If you’re a student looking to learn Pre-Calc, crush your grades and feel confident in math class, then you already know you need a reliable resource to get you there.

So I'll spare you the lecture.

You're probably well aware that going to your teacher for help will do you no good if you haven't been able to connect with them over the material. Even more so if they aren't the warm & fuzzy approachable type, right? Tutors can be great ... but pricey and online forums can be hit or miss and full of noise and junk you need to wade through.

Distance learning was all the rage in 2020 out of necessity ... but is it the future of education?

HERE'S WHAT YOU

MIGHT NOT KNOW

Even if you've been able to hold your own in math thus far, taking an online Pre-Calc course can:

  • IMPROVE YOUR GRADES & GPA

How does a scholarship for college sound to you? A good GPA can make college applications that much easier which directly leads to better job prospects for your future.
  • GAIN CONFIDENCE

You can be the student proud to show off your grades to your friends or parents. Having confidence in math will directly translate to other areas of your life.
  • FREE UP YOUR TIME

Focus on what's important in life by not being confined to a classroom or long lecture. Learn what you need when and where you need it, and move on.
  • NEVER MISS IMPORTANT INFO AGAIN

The beauty of an online Pre-Calc course is that you can stop, rewind, fast forward and take notes all at your own speed and style of learning. Rinse & repeat as often as you need!

Even though the reasons to get math help are obvious, the path to get there isn't always easy.

PRE-CALC ... ONLINE?! YES!

BUT ... IS IT RIGHT FOR YOU?

1:

You're frustrated. Tired. Math used to make more sense. Your friends understand the concepts, but you don't. Asking for help is hit or miss and raising your hand in front of your class screams scary!

2:

Not getting the help you need as soon as you start to struggle will only magnify the problems as the school year continues. Think of it like dominos. Don't let all your pieces fall and leave you down and out. Taking an online Pre-Calc course gives you all the tools you need to be successful on your own time!

3:

When you need help, you need it right away. The best way to learn math is through multiple variations of practice problems with each example worked out. Even better if it's by an instructor who has been in your shoes. Sometimes all you need is a little more time with the problems to clear up and re-watch minor misconceptions on the material. Sometimes the issues are larger and it takes a lot of re-winding videos and re-doing problems. Taking an onine math course allows you to print out all notes, examples and tests to get you on the right track as fast as possible.

The 4 Reasons Students Struggle in Math

(Which leads us to your need for a Pre-Calc course online)

Reason 1

They believe they're not a "math person"

That is simply not true. That's the easy way out, the easy thing to believe to get you off the hook. We are all math people and with the right attitude, willingness and instruction, this false truth will fade away and leave you with restored confidence (and better grades would be cool too!)

Reason 2

They believe they can't learn online

Learning online is a completely difference experience from classroom instruction. Having conversation and interaction is just (if not more) critical online. Online learning does not mean just watching videos. Connecting with and letting the information really resonate with you is where it's going to click.

Reason 3

They believe they can't retain the material

That feeling where it's just NOT sinking in. Or worse ... you think you've got it down then bomb the test. Classroom learning can be effective ... but when it comes to reinforcement to ensure you know your stuff, that's where an online platform loaded with videos and practice problems comes in clutch.

Reason 4

They believe grades are everything

Yes, grades are very important. Yes, better grades can make your life now AND in the future better and more enriched and open more doors. BUT ... it's not everything. Students place a ton of pressure on themselves for those high grades and spend tons of time cramming and stressing and not sleeping. Instead, focus your attention when you can online ... not when you're made to according to your class schedule.

Hey! I've got something YOU need.

If we've covered anything so far that speaks to you, it's beacuse you know this makes sense. The key to all of this is an online Pre-Calculus course that is simplified in approach but in depth with knowledge to help you learn. An anytime-you-can platform is just clicks away from becoming yours. The framework for a better math experience lies ahad if you'll follow me.

Introducing

Pre-Calculus in 30 days

The online course that teaches you exactly what you need to know to pass Pre-Calculus with confidence (and better grades!)

I am not new to online instruction. I have been teaching math in front of a camera for 11 years, and in the classroom for 14. I struggled in my math classes in high school but worked really hard to improve my grades and went on to earn my math degree in college. Since then, I have taught not only in classroom, but through my online platform, to students all over the world.

Pre-Calculus Simplified is the ONLY program of its kind that…

1. Is practically made for all of you non- math people. I WAS you and now, this is what I do for a living.

2. Will prove to you that not only can you learn online, you can thrive.

3. Gives you the time and materials you need to actually absorb the information at your own pace. Step by step and made for YOU.

4. Will get you so hooked on actually making progress with the learning side of Pre-Calc, the grades will naturally follow.

Here's how we'll help you get there:

Module 1

Functions

Functions are the foundation of Calculus and much of the mathematics you have studied up to this point.  Having a solid foundation of functions is going to serve you well as you expand upon your education after Pre-Calculus.  Functions allow us to see the real world by interpreting and creating models that help us better understand and predict based on patterns.  Pre-Calculus can be taught out of order but functions is a necessary chapter that will serve you for the rest of the course.

Module Highlights:

  • Characteristics of Functions - Understand what makes up a function and what the properties of a function tell us about the graph
  • Implied Domain - Interpret the meaning of values that make a function undefined and defined by writing out the domain in interval notation
  • Transformations of Functions - Move functions around based on the rules assigned to them by their equation to graph and identify the domain
  • Piecewise Functions - Learn how to graph more that one function on a coordinate plane using transformations and domain restrictions
  • Operations - Explain what happens when we add, subtract, multiply and divide functions and determine the domain
  • Inverse of Functions - Make clear the relationship between a function and its inverse algebraically and graphically
Module 2

Polynomials

Polynomials is another basic foundation for Calculus but also of what you have previously studied.  We will expand on our understanding of polynomials to refine the meaning for complex numbers, zeros, extrema, and theorems such as the fundamental theorem of Algebra.  Our understanding of polynomials will help us later by making  connections to other continuous functions in Pre-Calculus and Calculus.

Module Highlights:

  • Characteristics of Polynomials  - Explain the importance of knowing we have a polynomial and the properties that make polynomials so unique
  • Binomial expansion - Investigate the different ways we can represent polynomials and their forms by using binomial expansion as well as completing the square
  • Real Zeros of Polynomials - Make clear what is a zero, solution and root to a polynomials and what does that tell us about the polynomial
  • Irrational Zeros of Polynomials - Use our understanding of irrational numbers to apply to the zeros of polynomials by using division and factoring
  • Complex Zeros of Polynomials - Learn how complex numbers fit inside of our understanding with polynomials functions and how we can apply them to understand important theorems
Module 3

Rational Functions

Nobody really likes fractions but then when you add polynomials into the mix it gets even more confusing.  Fortunately we have an understanding of functions and polynomials to this point so understanding the graph, domain and operations of functions makes everything just a little bit easier. Rational functions also help us redefine our understanding for asymptotes which will be used throughout the curriculum.

Module Highlights:

  • Simplify Rational Expressions - Learn the difference between an asymptote and a hole and how to identify them with simplifying rational expressions including complex fractions
  • Graph Rational Functions - Graph rational expressions using your understanding of asymptotes, holes, zeros and intercepts
  • Solve Rational Expressions - Find the values that make a rational expression true but using what we know about solutions and the graph of a rational equation
Module 4

Trigonometry

Trigonometry is like no other topic we have covered up to this point but we can apply what we previously learned in our unit studying triangles and the relationships of their sides and angles.  In this chapter we will focus on right triangles and how to understand and apply the six trigonometric functions: sine, cosine, tangent, cosecant, secant, and cotangent.

Module Highlights:

Curiosity-driven fascinations breaking down the process of how they’ll achieve the promise of the module.

  • Right Triangles - Find the missing sides of Right Triangles using the Pythagorean Theorem as well as trigonometric identities SOHCAHTOA
  • Angles in Trigonometry - Develop the understanding of an angle in standard form and how the idea of radians, degrees minutes and seconds can be applied
  • Angles and Constraints - Understand how constraints can affect the trigonometric ratios when being applied on a coordinate grid
  • The Unit Circle - Use your understanding of right triangles, trigonometric ratios and constraints to develop and apply the unit circle
  • Graph Sine, Cosine and Tangent - Identify the key components of what makes a trigonometric graph and how those relate to the values on a coordinate grid and unit circle
  • Graph Cosecant, Secant, and Cotangent - Make clear the relationship between the graphs of trigonometric functions and their reciprocal counterpart
  • Trigonometric Inverses - Apply constraints of functions to understand when to evaluate the inverse of a trigonometric function as well as the properties of its graph
Module 5

Analytic Trigonometry

Analytic Trigonometry takes everything that we have learned in our last chapter and begins to apply our understanding to dive deeper into how the six trigonometric functions are related to one another and with algebra.  Throughout this chapter students will be required to refresh their algebra skills and apply them with trigonometric terms.

Module Highlights:

    • Simplify Identities - Simplify trigonometric expressions to a single number or function by using basic trigonometric identities and algebraic techniques
    • Verify Identities - Apply trigonometric identities as well as algebraic techniques to simplify one side of an identity to verify it is the same as the other
    • Solve Trigonometric Equations - Find the solutions to a trigonometric equation using algebraic techniques, trigonometric identities and our understanding of the unit circle as well as the graphs of each trigonometric function
    • Sum and Difference Formulas - Learn how to simplify, verify, solve and evaluate using the sum and difference formulas for sine, cosine and tangent
  • Double and Half Angle Formulas - Learn how to simplify, verify, solve and evaluate using the sum and difference formulas for sine, cosine and tangent
Module 6

Applications of Trigonometry

Applications of trigonometry moves our understanding of trigonometry into the real word with applications that will help students explore the possibilities of what they have been learning through multiple word problems in each chapter.

Module Highlights:

  • Word Problems in Trigonometry - Apply basic evaluating trigonometric functions and their inverse functions to find the missing side of a right triangle given a word problem
  • Law of Sines - Explore how to find the missing sides of a triangle when given an oblique triangle and when the information provided gives the ambiguous case
  • Law of Cosines - Use the law of sines and cosines to find all the missing sides of an oblique triangle as well as determine the area of an oblique triangle
  • Vectors on a Plane - Learn the basics of vector operations such as graphing, magnitude, and the unit vector to better understand the importance of vectors
  • Applications of Vectors - Apply your understanding of vectors and their different forms to solve word problems using vectors as well as apply the dot product
  • Parametric Equations - Take previously understood functions and describe them as separate functions based on a variable called the parameter
  • Polar Equations - Develop a new understanding for points and equations on a coordinate grid using the angle and distance from the origin
Module 7

Conic Sections

Conic sections expand on the lessons from parametric and polar equations to understand equations that are not functions.  We do this by understanding the graphs of conic sections and different ways we can slice a cone.

Module Highlights:

  • Classifying Conic Sections - Classify the type of conic sections given the equation in standard and general form by completing the square and inspection
  • The Parabola - Determine the parts of a parabola to help sketch its graph as well as write the equation in standard and general form
  • The Ellipse - Determine the parts of an ellipse to help sketch its graph as well as write the equation in standard and general form
  • The Hyperbola - Determine the parts of a hyperbola to help sketch its graph as well as write the equation in standard and general form
Module 8

The Limit

The limit is our introduction into Calculus.  We will spend a little bit of time understanding the idea and purpose of the limit but mainly focus our attention on the different methods to evaluate the limit based on the techniques we have learned in this course.

Module Highlights:

  • The General Limit - Develop your understanding of the general limit by using a table of values, direct substitution and a graph
  • Left and Right Hand Limits - Use your understanding of the general limit to further evaluate the left and right hand limits algebraically and from a graph
  • Limits at Infinity - Apply your understanding of vertical and horizontal asymptotes and end behavior to evaluate the limit at positive and negative infinity

Frequently Asked Questions

What our most successful students asked before joining PC Simplified

It definetely can but it is not accredited (meaning you will not earn any credits).  I designed this course originally for my students inside of my classroom to follow along with the instruction. I have been using this curriculum exclusively for the past few years teaching Pre-Calculus.

That is not to say that your teacher may add or delete a chapter as all teachers and textbooks are different. Overall this course hits on the main ideas and will prepare you for courses during and after Pre-Calculus.

Obviously that depends on your schedule but unlike other online courses I have taken or reviewed, this course gets to the point. Each of the sections in this course could involve hours of instruction and examples. I wanted to make sure I made a course to give students exactly what they need without wasting time. That is what you get with this course.  From videos to assignments, this course is designed to be efficient and optimized for your learning.

Some of it is. Some of it's not. But you won't find my content in an organized package like this course primed and ready for you. You can find great resources online including my videos but that can be really time consuming and not paint the full picture to guarantee success for the entire class.

That is why my course has a cost.  I am not wasting your time making you find content.  I am showing you exactly what you need to learn, when to learn it and provide additional support as you need it.

Every year I have students that enter with high expectations and then struggle. Because of this I tailor my instruction to make sure I reach the most basic levels first and then increase with complexity.

Within every chapter and section I include problems designed to challenge but also solidify the baics so you can absorb the information long term. While the course I teach is honors, it is not an accelerated program.

Absofreakinlutely! Yes this course is challenging  but I designed for the student like you because that was me.  Math didn't come easy to me, it usually took me a little longer to understand the material.

I do not take anything for granted in my instruction regarding what you should know.  I start from the very basic, expand on each idea and spiral the concepts throughout the course.

You still will need help throughout the year.  I get it.  That is why I have provided the bonus community for you to get help from other classmates as well as my livestreams twice a week.

If you purchase the course paying monthy, then the course is dripped from August through May with a new module being released at the beginning of each month. This follows the natural progression of my course teaching inside of the classroom as well as many pre-calculus textbooks. If you pay in full, all the content is yours right away. I may make adjustments to this based on student needs and demands throughout the year.
